The Old Testament, which contains the Pentateuch, the first five books of the Bible (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy), pays special attention to Gods relationship with Israel, his chosen people, and one of the main aspects of this relationship is the Alliance of the Lord with Israel, which undertakes to be the God of that people that it has taken as a private possession and demands religious compliance with the commandments and divine laws.
